BlueJ has a lot of issues:

  • It has trouble reconciling code changes across multiple packages
  • It's not a very pleasant IDE to write code in (no auto-complete, formatting help, etc.)

Eclipse has its share too but we could create a nice prepackaged workspace that helps students use it to learn and avoid its superfluous features.
